FNF Extends Relief Efforts for Areas Impacted By Hurricanes Harvey and Irma
Relief efforts are well underway for areas impacted by hurricanes that swept through the south in late August and early September.
In response, First Nonprofit Foundation announced a joint effort with AmTrust Financial Group to provide assistance to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. AmTrust has committed $100,000 to help rebuild Houston, Texas in wake of Harvey. These funds will go directly to the First Nonprofit Foundation, who will then identify and donate to nonprofits in affected areas.
AmTrust corporation has taken that pledge one step further. The company will match employee donations up to $100,000 in addition to their initial pledge of $100,000 at the corporate level. AmTrust anticipates a final donation tally of $300,000 to Harvey efforts alone.
To date, employees have donated 288 gifts totaling $28,107 for an average gift of $97.00.
HURRICANE IRMA RELIEF
We are proud to announce an additional initiative to help areas overwhelmed by Hurricane Irma, which swept through Florida just weeks after Harvey came ashore.
AmTrust has committed $100,000 toward Irma relief. Parallel to Harvey donations, these funds will go to the First Nonprofit Foundation to identify and donate to nonprofits in areas impacted by Irma. AmTrust will match employee donations up to another $100,000.
To date, employee donations for both hurricanes stand at $84,648. Donations made through September 30 will qualify for the matching AmTrust donations.
While courageous organizations and volunteers work to address immediate health and safety concerns in afflicted areas, our focus is mid- and long-term rebuilding efforts to help businesses and individuals get back on their feet. Currently, we are discussing durable solutions such as replacing computers, wheelchairs, communication systems, and other initiatives consistent with Foundation goals.
Employees will receive reports from Joe Geiger, First Nonprofit Foundation President, and CEO, on how the funds are being allocated to organizations and institutions in need.
